Thomas Weshefsky, O.D.

Thomas Weshefsky, O.D. received his Doctor of Optometry in 1987 from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry and earned his Bachelor of Science in Biology at Biscayne College.  His special fields of interest include dry eye, orthokeratology, myopia management, and specialty contact lens fitting.

Dr. Weshefsky began practicing optometry in New Jersey in 1987 and relocated to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, in 2006, where he founded Carolina Forest Family Eyecare and developed robust specialty programs in myopia management, orthokeratology, specialty contact lenses, and dry eye.

Earning his fellowship from the International Academy of Orthokeratology in 2009, he served on the board of directors of the American Academy of Orthokeratology and Myopia Control from 2009 to 2019.  He is the former host of the Academy’s “Ortho K Podcast” series, served as co-host of the annual Vision by Design Boot Camp for Beginners, and has lectured extensively on dry eye, orthokeratology, and myopia control.

He is a consultant for both Oculus and Wave contact lenses and has been featured in several television news stories about orthokeratology, myopia control, and children’s vision.

When Dr. Weshefsky is not treating patients, he enjoys spending his free time sailing and hiking.
