A Guide to Caring for Contact Lenses

Contact lens wearers need to be sure to treat their contact lenses properly. Improper care can lead to ripped or torn contacts, or or even serious eye infections or abrasions, which on occasion results in vision loss. People of all ages that are not capable of properly taking care of their contact lenses may want to consider an alternate form of vision correction.

Not to worry, though... contact lens care is easier than it may seem. With one-bottle treatments and disposable contacts, caring for your lenses is cheaper, takes less time and involves less hassle than in the past. However, there are several important instructions to be aware of.

Firstly it's always best to consult with your optician to get personalized recommendations. In addition, it's important that you don't change care regimens without asking your optician first. Some products can react with each other or with specific lenses and can harm your eyes. Our experienced staff can help you determine the right treatment for your lenses.

All contact lens experts recommend cleaning and disinfecting your contacts daily. Make sure to do this as soon as you take out your lenses. Not only will clean contacts ensure that your eyes will be healthier, your contacts will feel more comfortable. Never press solution bottle openings to any area including your eye since it can dirty the solution. Do your best to prevent getting sink water on your contacts, including washing your lens container, as it often transports a bacteria that can cause severe eye infections. And of course, don't forget to dispose of your lenses when they have reached their expiration to reduce the risk of infection.

Yes, there may be an array of products out there, but with a little planning you can be sure you are treating your lenses properly, ensuring healthier eyes and clearer vision!
